The south end of Council Bluffs includes homes of vintage ages as well as many new homes available under the city’s infill grand program.  Under the program, buyers receive a grant of $8,000 to $10,000 that is applied to the purchase of the home.  The grant may be forgiven over a period of time or a portion to be repaid if the owner chooses to sell earlier.  First time home buyers particularly enjoy this opportunity.

The south side also includes easy access to the Interstate 80 and Interstate 29 which sends you east, west, north or south whether you are headed to Omaha or Des Moines, Kansas City or Sioux City.  The interstates which merge together in this area are so heavily traveled that there is a massive highway rebuilding program now underway which will result in a twelve lane thoroughfare with six lanes on each side to create a smooth transition for exit lanes and through lanes.  The corridor includes major shopping areas including Market Place which includes ShopKo, JC Penney and many other stores and restaurants.  Another new shopping complex is Metro Cross which features Target, many other shops and restaurants as well as a branch of First National Bank. The area also provides access to the city’s three casinos and hotel area.  On the south side as well as in the entire city, you’ll find in the Council Bluffs School District renovated elementary schools plus modern and renovated middle and high schools equipped with the latest technologies and facilities for our students.
